unDespite the chilly weather, you have a variety of musical and cultural entertainment to warm you up this weekend.

Anil Shah and Sudha Bagwagar are set to host a concert of musical nostalgia at the Oshwal Centre Auditorium Westlands Sunday evening.

The show SUNEHRI YAADEIN (Golden Memories) features Indian singers Kavita Murthy and Chirag Panchal who have flown in from Mumbai to take us on a musical trip to refresh fond memories of days gone by when melody reigned supreme as queen in Bollywood.

Musical compositions in that era were unadulterated by  western beat mania as ragas and poetical compositions in heavenly voices of legendary singers Mohamed Rafi, Kishore Kumar, Mukesh, Hemant Kumar Manna Dey, Geeta Dutt, Lata Mangeshkar and Asha ruled our heart and soul.

The singers, Kavita and Chirag, are a highly respected duo who will be on stage with a full orchestra from India.

Anil Shah informs me that the concert will also include songs from the 40’s and 50’s and the proceeds from the show will assist to educate orphan girls. For further details contact him on 0722514688 or Sudha Bagwagar on 0721390450.

Elsewhere during the day Ramgharia Youth Association has organised a family sports fun with musical and cultural performances at Sikh Union Club Forest Road.

The fun festivity dubbed KHEL MELA (Sports fun fare) is free. If you choose to spend a relaxing day with family and friends then here is the place to be.

The evening has additional fun. You can be part of Hindi Samiti of East Africa’s FUNTAKSHRI at Oshwal Junior High Theatre in Parklands to enjoy songs from Indian movies in the popular fun game Antakshri. There is a chance to win exciting prizes.

Finally Kenya’s premier show promotion set up, Ranee Productions celebrate two decades of service to our world of entertainment early next month. In a celebration announcement by the promoter it has been declared that India’s legendary Ghazal maestros Pankaj Udhas, Talat Aziz and Anup Jalota will perform jointly.
