When a group of young unemployed youth in Dagoretti South decided to find means of earning their daily bread together, drama came to mind.
And ever since 2012 when they formed the group known as Dagoretti Drama School, the talented youths have been making baby steps in efforts to join the league of renowned artistes.
And, for the first time since formation, the group has ventured outside its comfort zone of Dagoretti where they have been performing at the Amref Centre in Mutuini Ward and in the streets, and are now staging the hilarious comedy, The Disrupted Wedding, at the Wida Highway Motel near Kikuyu town since Friday.

A FARCE
The Disrupted Wedding is basically a farce meant to crack your ribs without overworking your brain with heavy messages.
It is about a young man whose wife plans and invites guests to their wedding in total disregard of his wishes. The thing is that the couple is absolutely broke.
The man faces a hard time and invites a close friend to help him prepare for the nuptials.
The real action takes place in a “matatu” that the groom has hired to take him, his wife and guests to church.
The plan is that since the man cannot afford to pay a pastor, the matatu driver will fill in for the role while his conductor is master of ceremony. The play is written by Ephantus Karanja and directed by Kamau.
