Blog of the week: www.mikemuthaka.com

Mike Muthaka’s diary-like entries range from introspection – often brought about by the books he reads – to tales of his life (and his woman, and his barber) woven into lessons learnt and birthdays spent recovering from headaches – and, like many 21-year olds, job hunting. PHOTO| COURTESY

What you need to know:

  • I might just read Gone Girl, because I did enjoy the movie, regardless of the ‘read the book first’ rule of thumb.

Mike Muthaka’s diary-like entries range from introspection – often brought about by the books he reads – to tales of his life (and his woman, and his barber) woven into lessons learnt and birthdays spent recovering from headaches – and, like many 21-year olds, job hunting.

If you like a good story, check out this blog – the last two books he reviewed were The Kite Runner, a classic, at this point, and Gone Girl. The first one brought to mind a point in his childhood where he should have stuck up for someone, but didn’t, in a poignant and relatable way; the latter reminded him just how little he knows about the female race.

Be warned, though, there are a few spoilers thrown in for not-so-good measure – by the time he warns you, you’re already too engrossed in the blog to stop.
