What you need to know:

  • I’m not the biggest fan of Oprah’s productions – I know, I know, sue me.
  • The couples talk about how they met, how they knew they had found who they wanted to be with, and how they have dealt with the challenges in their relationships; abuse, death, and overcoming it all while keeping their relationships intact.

I’m not the biggest fan of Oprah’s productions – I know, I know, sue me. Once in a while though, the OWN Network manages to come up with something I actually want to watch.

This season, it is Black Love, a documentary series by two film-making newlyweds who immerse themselves in the stories and lessons of couples who have gone before them, so to speak. They interview sets of black and multiracial couples, some famous, some not, to show what a healthy relationship is.

The couples talk about how they met, how they knew they had found who they wanted to be with, and how they have dealt with the challenges in their relationships; abuse, death, and overcoming it all while keeping their relationships intact.

It’s a lesson for anyone who wants a little insight into how other people love.
