Who do I need to bribe to get a well-paying job?

I have been applying online jobs without a response, interview invitations nor a job offer.Do I have to bribe someone? PHOTO | COURTESY

What you need to know:

  • An accountant is a custodian of a company’s financial health, and hence needs both the technical and managerial knowledge to assist in this crucial function, therefore a bachelor’s degree in the relevant discipline will crystallise your accounting knowledge. You also need to diversify your methods of application, rather than relying on online applications only.
  • The language you use on your CV is critical; from how you have written your question, you are not keen on language and punctuations at all. This in itself will discourage a potential employer from perusing an otherwise good CV.

(Editor’s note: this question is unedited.)

Congratulations for having completed CPA section 6 successfully, and bagging three awards. That said, as you pursued the CPAs, it would have been helpful if you had gotten internship to get the necessary on-the job experience. This would have given you competitive advantage amongst your peers when seeking employment.

Do not dwell on the grade you scored in “O” Levels since students who have a shortfall in the threshold for private university entry can undertake a bridging exam.

Your CV has the basic information required, but it would get a boost if you outline any achievements and leadership positions held, if any. Also mention your awards, as well as the fact that you were the best student in your CPA exams.

The language you use on your CV is critical; from how you have written your question, you are not keen on language and punctuations at all. This in itself will discourage a potential employer from perusing an otherwise good CV. Since you are just starting out, don’t expect your employer to offer you a big salary. The money will come as you increase your knowledge and experience. Also, your age should not be a hindrance in securing a job as long as you have a solid education background, on-the job experience and the right attitude. And no, you don’t have to bribe anybody to get a job – you do know that bribery is a crime, don’t you?
