What you need to know:

  • The client’s job is to be committed. In the recent past, I have been working with widows.

  • The change in their lives is tangible. During our recent widows annual event, I had budgeted for about only 15 women but more than double that number turned up. To know that they believe in me was very inspiring.

“My initial career path was office administration. Then I had my first two children and experienced some challenges during my transitions. Luckily, I had someone to hold my hand.

I saw other people out there who didn’t, I wanted to become that person to other people. I founded Bella Borsa to help people and organisations through various life transitions. Anything from new motherhood and empty nests to job interviews and losses.

“I was up at 5am for my morning devotion after which I prepared and sat to have breakfast with my eldest daughter.

After seeing her off to school, I spent a few minutes online updating our website and social media pages then I left for work. My job entails sitting down with people going through various transitions and helping them evolve to their highest potential. My key attributes are compassion and resilience.

“I meet a variety of people at work. Young, old, outspoken, introverted; my job is to find their needs while coming from a place with understanding. Then I embrace the client’s need or challenge, own that need and start the client on their journey to overcoming that challenge.

The highest moment of my calling however must have been making it to the finalists’ level of the CFC Stanbic Bank Rising Star Awards earlier in the year. It made me feel that what I have dedicated my life to actually counts.

Evening routine

“I left the office at 5pm and rushed home to cook and do homework with the children. After tucking them into bed, I spent some time catching up with the global news. Then I re-read a few pages of John Maxwell’s How to Be a People Person. I am an introvert, I do not do well around crowds.

I prefer intimate conversations with fewer people. However, this book is nudging me out of my shell. Some days I bring work home and attend to it after the children have gone to bed. Other evenings, when I’ve had a long day, I listen and dance to loud music by myself. It is a great way to relieve tension.

“I wish more people knew that it is okay to hibernate so that you can recharge. There is also no use fighting life transitions. It is easier to embrace transition when you think of the butterfly that has to first become a caterpillar.”
