What to do with a fringe

What you need to know:

  • Accessories need to be simple to the point of plain. You don’t want anything competing with the fringed item of choice.
  •  Mix and match fringe with what is already in your wardrobe. Now is not the time to try a whole new look.

Keep it simple. This is a lesson learnt by observing street style. Keeping your look simple when wearing fringe automatically looks casual, wearable and appealing. Wear a fringe skirt like jeans, and the fringe jacket to replace a leather jacket and you should be able to nail the street grunge look.

Buy colours you would normally wear. Some trends come to life and seem to be only available in what we would consider off colours. If you would never wear camel, and are more of a sunny personality, buy fringe in your personality colour.

Each trend is not for everyone. You may have to skip something that you feel is ridiculous.

Start small. A fringed bag, pair of boots or purse can introduce you to a trend. You can try it for size; see if you like it before going big.
