What you need to know:

  • Since making a comeback, he has picked up where he had left off by releasing two hit singles, “Mwana” and “Kimasomaso”, which have received massive air play, winning him invitations to perform in the United States.

Bongo flava crème Del crème Ali Saleh Kiba aka Alikiba is in Kenya for the recording of “Coke Studio Africa, Season 3”.

The multi-award winning musician, who has been churning out hits for the past decade, joins a stellar cast of artistes from across Africa whose performances and collaborations have made a tremendous mark on the local and international music scene.

Alikiba, who beat his nemesis Diamond Platinumz in the recently held Kilimanjaro Awards 2015, where he scooped six awards, will be paired with rising divas both from Kenya and Nigeria to work on a mash up that will be produced by veteran producer Owuor Arunga.

Owuor is a Grammy award-winning musician and trumpeter best known for his collaborations with American rapper Macklemore.

Alikiba, who returned to the music scene last year after taking a three-year sabbatical to spend more time with his three children and help his brother Abu Kiba nurture his music career, has promised his fans that he will bring his A-game on board.

AMAZING FEELING

“It’s an amazing feeling to be part of “Coke Studio Africa”. This is the place where I can show my fans that I can do better.

They will also see how my chemistry with another artiste in the music industry can be good,” he said.

Since making a comeback, he has picked up where he had left off by releasing two hit singles, “Mwana” and “Kimasomaso”, which have received massive air play, winning him invitations to perform in the United States.

He also collaborated with fellow Tanzanian musician, rapper Mwana FA, on “Kiboko Yangu”, a song whose video was shot sometime last year here in Kenya.

Recently, Alikiba was at it again, releasing the video for his latest single “Chekecha Cheketua” that is already topping the billboard chart back in Tanzania and has also been played on international Trace TV.

This year, “Coke Studio Africa” has once again drawn the hottest musical talent from Kenya, Tanzania, Mozambique, Nigeria and Uganda.

He will join East Africa’s top shots like Maurice Kirya, Avril, Juliana Kanyamozi and Fid Q in the new season of the show.
