NEW YORK

At least 42 people were injured Friday night after a railing collapsed at a Snoop Dogg concert in New Jersey, police said.

The rap superstar was performing with fellow hip-hop artist Wiz Khalifa in the northeastern state when the metal railing caved under the weight of attendees leaning against it.

Footage uploaded to social media shows concert-goers tumbling atop each other toward the foot of the stage.

Local police spokesman Dan Keashen said most of the injuries were broken bones and bruises. One person was taken to a trauma centre with a serious upper body injury and released Saturday morning.

A Camden, NJ, city spokesperson told AFP the venue has no history of code violations or building maintenance issues.

The concert ended shortly after the incident.

Tonight's "I Love the 90's" concert featuring Salt N Pepa will go on as scheduled, Keashen said.
