There is no doubt that David Muthengi alias Holy Dave has seen his fair share of criticism especially after past rumours of him engaging in ‘unholy’ acts.

But to him these complaints have not deterred his efforts of continuing to spread the gospel through music.

He is the man behind songs such as 'Even Though I Walk,'‘Press On,’‘Whatever Man,’‘Bounce Back,’‘I Can Do It’ and his latest hit, ‘Wanna Be’.

However he has been silent for a few months, a fact that has elicited rumours among fans and critics, with many questioning whether he is up to the task of competing with popular names in the gospel industry.

“I want people to know me for my music and not for scandals. Perhaps that is one of the reasons that have seen me quiet for a while,” he says.

His latest song 'Wanna Be' has been nominated for the Hip Hop song of the year category in the 2014 Groove Awards.

He hopes that his efforts as a musician will continue to bear fruit and see his name placed together with renowned gospel artistes.

But this he says will take quite some effort.

He blames a section of the media and some deejays of frustrating the efforts of other artistes.

“They have created cartels thus ignoring good music and in the process affecting the industry,” he says.
