The weapon — expected to fetch up to $12,000 — is among almost 500 costumes, props and other items up for grabs from the original film and its sequels Catching Fire and the two-part Mockingjay.

"Everyone will have a chance to acquire items from their favorite characters and moments of The Hunger Games series," said Joe Maddalena, president of Los Angeles auction house Profiles in History.

The auction will be held on May 20.

HIGHEST GROSSING FILM FRANCHISES

The dystopian Hunger Games series, which debuted in 2012, is among the highest grossing film franchises of all time, having taken in over $2.9 billion worldwide.

The first three films set various records for biggest opening weekends and made a star of Lawrence as Katniss Everdeen, the plucky teenage heroine who becomes an iconic rebel leader.

"The Hunger Games films have captured hearts and minds around the world," said Kerry Phelan, an executive vice president of Lionsgate, the studio behind the movies.

"We are excited to bring fans the unique opportunity to own a piece of this global phenomenon."

The auction will feature costumes worn by Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson and other stars of the franchise, including Katniss's black, three-piece snakeskin-patterned leather and vinyl chariot costume, listed for up to $50,000.

The lots also include Hutcherson's tribute combat wetsuit from Catching Fire and Lawrence's hunting ensemble and stunt longbow from Mockingjay, Part Two.
