  • She also says her homecoming was not a moment earlier or later.

Lupita Nyong'o has said she is proud to be back home.

Asked at a press conference why it took her so long to return home, she said this is the ordained time.

The actress, who was recently in Uganda and was spotted in family functions, said she went where the action was.

"I need to be where things are happening and this has taken me away from home often. I have been away busy filming and doing stuff that makes Kenyans proud," she said.

She also said her homecoming was not a moment earlier or later.

"I am proud of my Kenyan heritage and a part of that is the incredible wildlife haven that is in our care. I am happy I can now come back with a message and I believe this is an ordained moment now and not later. This is the right time."

The press briefing marks the beginning of Lupita's homecoming activities that will include raising awareness on conservation efforts. She was accompanied by her mother, Dorothy, and brother Peter.
