NFL bosses have confirmed that Katy Perry will headline the Super Bowl half time show in February 2015.

The 'Roar' hitmaker - who has been rumoured to appear at the half time ceremony since the NFL shortlisted her in August - will take to the stage at the annual sporting event in February 2015, sport bosses have now officially announced.

The 29-year-old beauty is excited about the prestigious gig and already has a number of ideas for the performance - including showering the crowd with edible glitter.

Speaking in a video posted online shortly after the announcement was made during the Dallas Cowboys V New York Giants game on 'Sunday Night Football' last night (23.11.14), she said: "I've got some insane ideas this year. What if we covered the stadium with glitter?

"But the glitter ... was edible."

Katy was first linked to the Super Bowl show back in August but cast doubts when she insisted she wouldn't pay to perform at the University of Phoenix stadium in Glendale, Arizona, following reports the NFL wanted to charge artists to play at the show after the broadcast reported a record-breaking audience of 111.5 million last year.

She said: "I'm not the kind of girl who would pay to play the Super Bowl."

Speculation around the performance was further fuelled after it was noticed the 'Part Of Me' singer had a gap in her 'Prismatic' world tour dates around the time of the Super Bowl.
