  • Refigah also insists that Kenyan promoters still have a lot to learn from their Tanzanian counterparts in terms of organising concerts and receiving foreign artistes.

Refigah’s recent experience with Tanzanian fans early May convinced him that Kenyan music is doing extremely well in the country.

This , he says,  was quite evident during a concert in Mwanza that was organised specifically for musicians from the Grandpa music label.

“We could hear the fans singing word for word with our musicians on stage, a clear indication that they loved the songs and were familiar with the lyrics,” he adds.

The show which was held at the Jembe beach Hotel attracted nearly 4000 fans with only Kenya artistes taking on to the stage. The likes of Kenrazy, Visita, Dizo Dizo graced the stage in the show that lasted for three hours.

Refigah also insists that Kenyan promoters still have a lot to learn from their Tanzanian counterparts in terms of organising concerts and receiving foreign artistes.

“We were welcomed like kings apart from receiving ten air tickets for our artistes, with traditional musicians and acrobats jamming the exit as we were making our way out of the airport. It made us feel appreciated,” he says.

Outside, a motorcade of huge rides was awaiting to take them to a five star hotel where they were checked in. “It is a trend that needs to be emulated by our promoters,” he adds.
