Mwafaka announces nominees for 2014 awards

Mwafaka, a forum for recognizing and rewarding gospel artistes has announced its nominees for 2014.

Credited with discovering new talent, the annual awards are in their sixth year. Mwafaka awards promotes talent and awards ordinary Christians making a difference in the society.

There are twenty categories recognizing the best in the various aspects of gospel industry. The nominees were announced at a gala event on Friday at the National Museum of  Kenya. In attendance were artistes in the gospel industry.    

To vote for the artiste in the various categories fans will be required to send the artiste’s keyword to the short code 20454.

They will not only get to cast their vote but they will also get the chance to follow their favourite artistes and receive updates on their progress in the music industry.

This year has seen the introduction of Fan’s Choice, a new category taking cognizance that there may be artist that may have overlooked during the nomination process.

“Since not all the artistes could be nominated, for the first time in Kenya we have Special award for the "fans choice" we are giving the fans out there an opportunity to vote for any artiste who was not nominated by sending in their name to 20454,” the organisers said.

This will act as a discovery platform for any artiste who wins as we will give them a chance to perform and bask in the limelight alongside other established artistes.

Last year’s saw Gloria Muliro and Ringtone emerge Mwafaka’s female and male artiste of the year respectively.

At the same awards, Mike Sonko was voted the role model of the year. He also gave the male artiste of the year Sh100,000 and Sh50,000 to the female artiste of the year.
