Not so groovy for Willy Paul, Bahati in Groove nominations

Bahati and Willy Paul are just the most prominent of a growing list of child stars in the gospel music industry. Despite Bahati winning the 2015 Male artist of the year among other awards in 2015, he was not lucky enough to get a slot in this years’ Groove awards nomination and neither was his counterpart Willy Paul. • Towards the end of last year, the two traded accusations with Bahati claiming Willy Paul had plagiarised his song and the latter denying it. It took the intervention of fellow artistes to cool the situation down.

One would assume that Gospel hit songs was a major part of the winning formula to score a Groove Award nomination but this proved not be so Tuesday evening when leading stars Bahati and Willy Paul were conspicuously missing from the list.

The two stars not making it to the nomination list has set social media ablaze with speculation about the reason behind this, despite them having produced hit songs with some camps theorising that the two have not been leading a ‘Good Christian life'.

One reason for this may be that towards the end of last year, the two traded accusations with Bahati claiming Willy Paul had plagiarised his song and the latter denying it. It took the intervention of fellow artistes to cool the situation down.

The controversial Willy Paul also famously stormed out of the 2015 Groove Awards ceremony after failing to land a single award he had been nominated for. One fan commented that he may be picking his celebrity lessons from Kanye West, who is known to cause major drama at award ceremonies.
