What you need to know:

  • Kenya is the only country that voted for Sabina, as the top-voted housemate, JJ, got votes from five African countries.
  • Four housemates who were up for eviction were picked by one country each, making the tie-breaker rule the determinant on who was to be evicted.
  • The rule is that a percentage should be generated from all regions’ votes and be used to determine who stays and who leaves the house.

The unexpected decision by "Big Brother" to have three instead of two housemates leave the house left Kenyans disappointed as Sabina was announced as the third evictee.

Sabina, who was up for eviction last week, had breathed a sigh of relief after Lillian and Esther were announced as the nominees leaving.

Kenyan fans took to Twitter to express their disappointment with the eviction. Her name trended for the better part of Sunday evening and Monday morning.

@Elvislangas tweeted, “Sabina...so heartbreaking. How did that happen and in day one she was Africa's second favourite?”
@wameyokw tweeted, “ #BBHotshots Sabina is out. So soon. Tragic for Kenya @AnnMbaru @Malonzi @ik_osakioduwa didn't see it coming.”
@GraceMsalame tweeted, “Surely that Sabina move was anything but fair Biggie!! #BBAHotshots.”
@lindaadongo tweeted, “#BBAHotshots was great until Sabina got evicted.”

ONLY KENYA VOTED

Kenya is the only country that voted for Sabina, as the top-voted housemate, JJ, got votes from five African countries.

Four housemates who were up for eviction were picked by one country each, making the tie-breaker rule the determinant on who was to be evicted.

The rule is that a percentage should be generated from all regions’ votes and be used to determine who stays and who leaves the house.

“According to the Big Brother Africa rules, if the popularity vote does not yield clear evictees and there is a deadlock between two or more housemates, the percentage vote from each of the 15 regions will be added together and divided by 14 in order to generate an across-the-board percentage, which will then ascertain who stays and who goes,” read a statement on the show's website.

@SaidaApondi tweeted, “How could Kenyans not vote for such a talent? Sabina am so sorry forgive us #BBHotshots.”

Sabina’s eviction has left the country with just one housemate, Alusa, who during the Sunday nominations was picked by three people for eviction.

Fans are now waiting for “Big Brother” to announce this week’s eviction nominees.
