Wema Sepetu to vie for parliamentary seat

Wema Sepetu, Diamond Platinumz ex-girlfriend has become the latest Tanzanian celebrity to announce her political ambitions.

Wema declared her intention of vying for a Member of Parliament seat in this year's general elections, after veteran rappers Professa Jay and Afande Sele.

The Tanzanian beauty has confirmed she will  be vying for the women special seat under the ruling party CCM (Chama Cha Mapinduzi).

Speaking to a Tanzanian radio programme, ‘Ala Za Roho’, the diva confirmed this announcement that was broken vie Instagram through her manager Martin Kadinda.

“Yeah it’s true I will be vying for the Member of Parliament special seat under CCM party and as we speak, I am in Singida to collect the nominations forms as we carry on with the arrangements,” The 26 year old actress said.

YOUTH VOTES

“I am eyeing to bring change in Siginda with youthful and visionary leadership. I felt it’s time to come in and do something different for the people especially my fellow youth whom we have been neglected for ages.

“Besides carving a name for myself in the industry as a star, I have proven myself that I am capable of bringing the new representation in the parliament.” she said.

Her trysts with high-profile bongo artistes the likes of Mr Blue, Ommy Dimpoz, Diamond and Ali Kiba have been closely monitored and documented by the Tanzanian blogs and tabloids.

She is following in the footsteps of her late father, Ambassador Abraham Isaac Sepetu who was a prominent Tanzanian politician and former Ambassador to Russia.

When questioned about her love life scandals that could be used by her political nemesis against her during the campaigns, the Wema said she is ready for anything and everything.

“Well about that let’s not forget that I am human being and am bound to make mistakes, but my situations have always been blown out of proportion due to my stature in the society. Remember we are talking about politics and not my love life, these are two different things. One is a personal matter and the other is a national one and all that should be assessed is my capability of representing people of Singida," she said.

Profesa Jay, the other bongo artiste seeking to transition into politics, will be vying for Mikumi seat under the opposition party CHADEMA (Chama Cha Demokrasia Na Maendeleo) and has promised to unite all Tanzanian artistes under one banner, if elected.

His counterpart Afande Sele aka Suleiman Msindi will be eyeing the Morogoro seat under ACT party (Chama Cha Alliance for Change and Transparency)
