More Huduma Centres will soon be opened in a bid to improve access to basic government services.

The Ministry of Devolution and Planning plans to launch 22 additional centres in the next two months. This will bring the total number of such centres to 44.

INTEGRATED SERVICES

Huduma Centres are a one-stop shop for services such as application for  ID card, National Social Security Fund, business permits and driving licence.

Head of the Huduma Kenya Secretariat Dennis Mutuku said 19 more centres would be set up by the second quarter of 2015.

“The idea is to streamline basic services that have been characterised by endless, static queues which have previously wasted precious time and money,” he said.

Additional services that were recently included in the Huduma Centre portfolio include issuance of certificates of birth and good conduct.

“Credit Dispute Resolution and issuance of passports have also been included on the list of services,” said Mr Mutuku.

Huduma Centres use a e-web portal that provides integrated services offered by various government ministries, departments and agencies.
