A two-year-old boy is allergic to Christmas.

Ryan Costello will spend the majority of the festive season at his home in Middlesbrough, north east England, because he's allergic to the ingredients in many festive treats - dairy, eggs, chocolate and even alcohol.

The unlucky toddler's allergy is so severe he can't even come into contact with someone who has eaten some Christmas chocolate or festive eggnog as it prompts him to vomit, suffer diarrhoea and break out in an angry red rash.

His mother Lisa told the Daily Star newspaper: "It's dreadful. He is also allergic to Christmas pudding, chocolates, Christmas cake ... He is allergic to Christmas.

"When he was first ill doctors thought he might have a virus. But they did an allergy and blood tests at 11-months-old and worked out this wasn't the case. I dread Christmas-time because there is so much he can't eat."
