If you wish to enjoy a blend of luxury and nature, Maanzoni Lodge on the Nairobi-Mombasa highway is the place to go.

It lies at the foot of the Lukenya Hills and is surrounded by dry, tropical savanna scrubland.

These are Kwa Kyelu Wildlife Sanctuary, famed for its lions that were under the care of the late Makueni Senator Mutula Kilonzo. Rock climbing in the Lukenya Hills and biking are available.

The interior of its residential houses is themed along African architectural designs as are conference rooms adorned with stunning pieces of hand-painted art.

Each room has a private balcony, en-suite bathroom with hot showers, tea and coffee-making facilities.

Breakfasts, three-course lunches and four-course candle-lit dinners are offered at the facility at a fee, making it the perfect weekend getaway.
