According to a survey conducted by Churchill home insurance, 43 per cent of parents are influenced by the the 14-month old royal when it comes to buying gifts, toys and clothing for their own toddler.

The survey, which took into account the opinions of 2000 new parents, found that seeing the designer gear toted by the Duchess of Cambridge and Prince William, made parents feel pressured into buying their own luxury items for their little ones.

57 per cent confessed they felt forced to own a designer push chair, with 42 per cent of the parents asked admitting they would consider purchasing a pricey Silver Cross pushchair - the Duchess' choice of brand for carting around the future king.

However, Duchess Kate, 32, and Prince William, 32, insist they are careful not to spoil the young prince and made sure they didn't "go overboard" for his first birthday in July.

A source previously said: "George will be getting clothes and wooden toys from mum and dad for his birthday.

"William and Catherine don't want to go overboard. He has been given so many gifts over the months and there's only so much space to store them."
