New Year’s Genge party

King of Genge Jua Cali has chosen the New Year’s Eve as the ideal launch date for his Ngeli ya Genge album.

Jua Cali, an accomplished artiste for whom 2008 was a good year, will be backed by stable mates Jimw@t, Mejja, Alpha and Madtraxx, and Tanzanians AY and Z-Anton in what is being billed as biggest New Year party at the Kenyatta International Conference Centre’s Tsavo Ballroom.

“We want to give fans a reason to celebrate and welcome the new year, and we want a venue that is central for everybody,” he said.

The lead track in his album is Ngeli ya Genge, which has become something of an anthem in clubs and on radio. The album also features Bongo la Biashara, featuring Mejja, and Niambie, in which he features Enika, a female artiste from Tanzania.

This year, Jua Cali toured England, Scotland, Germany, France and Norway.

Seven awards

He has won seven awards, including Kisima Award, PAM and CHAT. He was nominated for the Music of Black Origin (MOBO) and the MTV Europe Music Awards.

Jua Cali says that his love for music has brought him fame and “considerable fortune”. Being the biggest artiste comes with a bigger pay check for anyone who wants your services. This has been the case for Jua Cali this year.
