Three games into the new season there players who are already on a hot streak: Theo Walcott , Dmitar Berbatov and Florent Malouda.

These are not the names anyone expected to grab headlines at least not Walcott but these men are the form players at the moment. Question is will they last the distance?

Theo Walcott is a puzzle as a player. The young man has remarkable speed but after about five years at Arsenal, he has very little to show for what he may have learnt from Arsene Wenger.

When he arrived at Arsenal comparisons to Wayne Rooney were on everyone’s lips today comparisons to Ashley Young are as good as it gets for Walcott.

Former England winger Chris Twaddle in a famous tirade even described Walcott as lacking a football brain among other not so nice things. Then question is has that frustrating Walcott turned a corner? Is he really a much improved player?

I would like to believe so but I would rather wait for another three weeks to see if his form and confidence fizzle out or whether he remains hot.

My thinking is I have seen this before think England qualifiers for 2010 World Cup Walcott at one point was on top of his game scoring a hat trick against some unfortunate nation but that was the end of his influence in qualifying and he never made the plane to South Africa.

This is Walcott’s most consistent form for Arsenal in his time at the club and to be honest the club needs it and so does the lad so for both their sakes I hope it’s for real.

Dmitar Berbatov ended last season as the one of the least popular players at Manchester United not because that anyone doubted his technical genius but because he just kept missing the most glaring of sitters and showing no real passion or energy in his football.

Not much has changed Berbatov still plays football at his own pace but the Bulgarian appears more settled and confident than he has ever been and it shows in his football.

Berbatov is back to his most outrageous self his tricks are still audacious but now effective and his scoring is on point- last weekend’s goal against West Ham is probably the goal of the season unless of course Berbatov can score a more outrageous goal.

This Berbatov is the player that Manchester United paid 30£m for and if he keeps this kind of form up a certain Wayne Rooney may find he is no longer the show stopper.

Last season Malouda was the most improved player in the league and this season he is clearly staying at the same level that he ended last season.

Malouda is the kind of player Chelsea need quick, clever and efficient and particularly now that a certain Frank Lampard is not looking good for his usual twenty plus goal haul from midfield someone else needs to step up.

Malouda is that someone and I expect a big season from the Frenchman. Form issues aside Ghana front man Asamoah Gyan made a deadline day transfer to Sunderland but that was not the most audacious transfer on deadline day. Rafael Van Der Vaart signed for Spurs who if you recall are playing champions league football.
