JSC says it wont honour summon to appear before Parliament over Shollei

Members of the Judicial Service Commission have resolved they will not honour summons by parliament to appear before the Justice and Legal Affairs committee on Thursday.

A full Judicial Service Commission meeting chaired by Chief Justice Willy Mutunga on Monday agreed that none of the 11 commission members directed to appear before the house team will honour the summons.

A statement from the JSC released by its acting Secretary Mr Kakai Kissinger however said that a formal communication regarding the decision by the commission will be made public later.

“JSC shall communicate formally to parliament of its resolution with respect to the summons. That communication shall be shared with the public in due course,” Mr Kissinger said.

The commission also appointed two city lawyers to represent it in a petition filed by the Chief Registrar of the Judiciary Gladys Shollei.
