Westgate: Missing people list falls to 39

The number of missing people reported after the Westgate attack has dropped from 60 to 39, the Kenya Red Cross said on Monday.

The charitable organisation said that 14 people have been found alive and discharged from various hospitals while seven are dead.

Mr Gullet said he cannot make public the names of those still missing as it is classified information but explained that said information on the matter will be released when the scene of attack is completely cleared to verify if there are any human remains left under the rubble.
This however is contrary to the government’s position issued by Interior Cabinet Secretary Joseph Ole Lenku on Sunday stating that he could not ascertain if there were any hostages in the building at the time the four-day siege was declared over last Wednesday.
Mr Lenku said they would be relying on forensic investigations to confirm if some civilian were still in the shopping mall by Wednesday.
