Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga has raised the alarm over what he terms as rising insecurity in the country.

This comes after Bungoma Senator-elect Moses Wetangula was involved in a shooting incident on Thursday night in Nairobi.

“This goes to show the rising insecurity that Kenyans of all walks of life are facing on a daily basis,” he said on his official twitter account on Friday.

According to Mr Odinga, the police must not only address the Wetangula incident but also pursue insecurity concerns in other parts of the country.

CAR HIJACKINGS

“I call upon the security agencies to investigate the matter to its logical conclusion and bring those culpable to book,” he said.

There is an average of about 10 vehicle hijackings per day in Nairobi and authorities have limited capacity to deter and investigate such acts, the US State Department service of the bureau of Consular affairs says.
