Quincy Timberlake arrested over son's death in Australia

Quincy Timberlake, the husband of former TV news anchor Esther Arunga, has been charged with the murder of his three-year-old son.

Mr Timberlake is reported to have been arrested on Tuesday morning in relation to the death of his son Sinclair in Kallangur, Brisbane north, Australia, about three months ago.

According to The Courier Mail.com, a news website, detectives arrived at the couple’s home in the early morning and took Mr Timberlake away.

Police were called to the townhouse about 2.30am on June 18 after ambulance officers were unable to resuscitate the boy.

A local TV channel — Channel 7 — reported on June 18 that the child died as paramedics, who had been called in, were attending to him.

The TV channel confirmed the names of the couple to the Nation by telephone.

FELL DOWN THE STAIRS

“The parents told the police that the child had been playing with his two-year-old brother when he fell down the stairs,” the channel reported then.

After the incident, it stated, the parents gave him Panadol, a painkiller, and put him to sleep, but his condition worsened.

The couple then called paramedics, who pronounced the boy dead.

“Police will allege the child had 'significant' internal injuries,” stated The Courier Mail.com.

Mr Timberlake, a political aspirant and controversial figure in Kenya, is one of the founders of the Placenta Party of Kenya.

He was granted asylum in Australia and left Kenya to “save” his life after being arrested and tortured while in custody on charges that were later dropped.

WIFE SUED PARENTS

Police will use reports from the post-mortem conducted on the boy to determine the circumstances of his death.

Four years ago, Mr Timberlake’s wife, Esther, sued her parents, Dr Robert Arunga and Mrs Petroline Arunga, claiming they had locked her in their house and subjected her to forceful psychiatric check-up.

She declared she was married to Quincy Timberlake, who was in police custody at that time. She demanded Sh300 million in damages from her parents.

Esther had been in the spotlight after police arrested her over the controversial activities of the Finger of God Church, which was then run by Timberlake and musician Joseph Hellon.
