AP wins Bravery Award for saving Ndia MP Stephen Ngare’s life

An Administration Police officer, who saved Ndia MP Stephen Ngare from a machete-wielding attacker in October, has been awarded for his bravery.
Corporal Joseph Musumbu, the body guard of the MP won the Bravery Award, 2014 last Friday.

National Police Service awarded Mr Musumbu for boldly shielded his boss from the attacker as he inspected Constituency Development Fund projects in his constituency within Kirinyaga County.

The officer, who put up a spirited fight against the lone attacker and subdued him, also received a certificate of recognition as the most outstanding police officer this year.

Outgoing Inspector General of Police, David Kimaiyo presented the award to the officer at Laico hotel in Nairobi.

Mr Kimaiyo congratulated the officer for saving the life of the MP

“It takes courage for a police officer to manage that type of such a situation,” he said.

The Corporal said he was not expecting such an honour and that the award came to him by surprise.
