FINALISED INVESTIGATIONS

Mr Waqo said the commission has finalised investigations on 56 files out of the 124 cases that were contained in a list tabled in parliament by President Kenyatta.

“21 files out of the completed investigations have been forwarded to the DPP,” he said adding that 19 public officers have been arraigned in court so far while another 29 would be charged “in the next few days” in various parts of the country including Turkana , Machakos, Nyamira, Nairobi and Trans Nzoia.

Concluded investigations on 35 files are currently undergoing evidence analysis by the EACC legal team and would be forwarded to the DPP “in due course” while another 68 cases are under active investigation, said the EACC secretary.

The EACC has also written to the President for more time to conclude investigations after the 60 days window the head of state had given the commission lapsed.

Mr Waqo also confirmed that PS Francis Kimemia has not yet been cleared as he still has another corruption case in which he is still under investigations.
