Uhuru Kenyatta says Al-Shabaab to pay heavily over El-Adde attack

President Uhuru Kenyatta has warned the Al-Shabaab terror group that they will pay heavily over Friday attack on a military base in Somalia.

The President, while addressing the nation from Mombasa, said the government’s job was to minimise the risk to Kenyans.

“We are determined and committed to pursuing those criminals to ensure they shall pay heavily for their crime. Our soldiers did not die in vain,” he warned.

He also said Kenya will continue fighting Al-Shabaab in Somalia.

“We therefore today once again reaffirm our resolve to stand with international community to free Somalia from the oppression of terrorists groups.

“To those misguided elements who think that their cowardly actions have shaken us, let me tell them today that their actions have only made us stronger and emboldened us in our determination to defeat them,” he said.

“We are unbowed, as I speak to you today, our defence forces are conducting intense search, rescue and recovery operation to make sure we bring home our fallen and our injured heroes that has been and remains our key priority,” he added.

He said the Defence Ministry and KDF will proceed with burial plans for the fallen soldiers as per their traditions.

The President ended his speech by saying “ I stand with Kenya Defence Forces and I ask you, my fellow Kenyans to do the same".
