  • Police had to whisk away the parents of the victims as the mob bayed for their blood.

Angry villagers in Nyangweso, Homa Bay County, lynched two brothers and burnt down five semi-permanent family houses on Friday morning.

The villagers also hacked to death eight animals in the home, as they accused the brothers of being behind the killing of a neighbour.

Led by boda boda riders, they killed Evans Onyango Ouma, 25, and Daniel Ojiojo, 20, for allegedly being behind the killing of Gordon Adich, whose body is supposed to be brought home Friday for burial.

At around 9am, the mob stormed the home of the two brothers, dragged Mr Onyango and set his body ablaze at Nyangweso trading centre on Kendu Bay-Homa Bay road.

Police from Homa Bay, who arrived at the scene moments later, were overwhelmed and watched helplessly as the mob also grabbed the second man, Mr Ojijo, and hacked him to death.

They then tied his body onto a motorbike and dragged him to the scene where the body of his elder brother was burning.

Police had to whisk away the parents of the victims as the mob bayed for their blood.

The villagers claimed the brothers were behind a spate of robberies in the area.
