Corporal Joel Koome Kaberia, brother of Defence Principal Secretary Kirimi Kaberia was buried on Friday.

He was one of the Kenya Defence Forces soldiers killed when Al-Shabaab attacked an Amisom camp in Somalia a month ago.

The burial ceremony was attended by Defence Cabinet Secretary Rachel Omamo and other top government officials.

Dr Omamo asked Kenyans to pray for KDF soldiers involved in peace missions.

She said the soldiers sacrifice and undergo a lot to ensure Kenya is safe at all times.

PRAY FOR FAMILIES

“Pray for the families of the fallen soldiers because it is not easy for them to lose their loved one as well as the fallen soldiers’ colleagues because it is also not easy to lose a comrade,” she said at Kilalai village in Meru County.

She said KDF had lost a very hardworking young man who was devoted to work under all circumstances to ensure his countrymen were safe.

Other senior government officials who attended the burial included State House Spokesman Manoah Esipisu, Transport Principal Secretary Wilson Nyakera and Solicitor General Njee Muturi. Senator Kiraitu Murungi and Igembe South MP Mithika Linturi were also present.
