WORK PLATFORMS

Devolution Principal Secretary Peter Mangiti on Monday said 40,000 Kenyans are registered on online work platforms — the highest number in Africa.

Rockefeller Foundation managing director for Africa Mamadou Biteye said Kenya had immense opportunities in ICT infrastructure, a strong human resource and the highest literacy level in sub-Saharan Africa.

Five months ago, Rockefeller launched a similar programme in collaboration with Elance-oDesk, an online employment agency.

The partnership is part of the Foundation’s Digital Jobs African Initiative, which aims at improving the lives of one million people in Kenya, Nigeria, Ghana, South Africa, Morocco and Egypt.
