Secretary charged with stealing Sh20m from National Bank of Kenya

Three employees of an airline have denied defrauding job seekers over Sh9 million while a secretary at a local university was charged with stealing Sh20 million from the National Bank of Kenya two years ago.
Mr John Odhiambo Majiwa and Ms Elizabeth Wanjiru Kinyanjui, both directors of Baracuda Airways and Ms Stellah Ivy Amaya denied 21 counts of defrauding job seekers by pretending that they would employ them as first officers (pilots) and cabin crew members after completing training in Dubai and South Africa.
The three are accused of stealing Sh9,614,179 and are out on bond of Sh5 million with one surety. They also had been given an alternative cash bail of Sh1million

Separately, Ms Rose Achieng Oluoch, a secretary at the Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology denied two counts of stealing Sh20,231,171 on diverse dates between May 14 and December 2015.
Ms Achieng, 47 and a mother of four also denied a charge of retaining in her account Sh1.7 million knowing it had been stolen.
“The case against Achieng will be consolidated with another in which a former NBK employee Joseph Kiplangat Musonik, Henry Angira Raballa and Evans Nyaaga Nyamwaro have already been charged,” State prosecutor Ms Celestine Oluoch told the court.
