Nasa leaders to attend Joseph Otiende burial

  • ANC chief Musalia Mudavadi and Moses Wetang'ula (Ford Kenya) are expected to attend the burial ceremony at Kegoye Secondary School.

Two National Super Alliance (Nasa) leaders are expected in Vihiga to attend the burial of Kenya's pioneer minster for education Joseph Otiende.

Mr Otiende who died a week ago age 100, will be laid to rest at his Kegoye home, Mbale.

ANC chief Musalia Mudavadi and Moses Wetang'ula (Ford Kenya) are expected to outline how the alliance will stem runaway corruption in the country.

In a statement, Mr Mudavadi's press secretary said, "the Nasa leaders will pronounce themselves on the rampant corruption that is ailing the country under the Jubilee government."

Kibisu Kabatesi added, "they will outline the alliance's plan to rid the country off corruption if the alliance forms the government after the August polls."

On Thursday, a parliamentary committee demand a lifestyle audit on former Devolution Cabinet Secretary Anne Waiguru to determine if she could be directly linked to the loss of billions at the National Youth Service (NYS).

The National Assembly's Public Accounts Committee (PAC), also recommended that charges be preferred against Elgeyo-Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen and Central Bank of Kenya Governor Patrick Njoroge over the scandal.

The committee, in its report, said more than Sh23 billion might have been lost in the scandal.

Other leaders expected to accompany Mr Mudavadi and Mr Wetang'ula include Governor Moses Akaranga, Vihiga Senator George Khaniri and MPs Alfred Agoi (Sabatia) and Yusuf Chanzu (Vihiga) among others.

Mr Kabatesi said, "Khaniri and the MPs will speak at length on the report by PAC."
