Kenya National Examinations Council Chief Executive Officer Joseph Kivilu on Wednesday said 157 people have been prosecuted for engaging in examinations irregularities.

Speaking during the release of Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) results, Mr Kivilu said those arrested and charged over cheating include head teachers, their deputies, university students, parents, police officers and candidates.

He defended credibility of the results saying all suspected examination malpractices will be investigated and dealt with accordingly.

Mr Kivilu recently said there would be no ranking and that the mode of releasing the results would be similar to last year’s.
