A Marsabit court has directed that a video linked to three suspects in a terror case be analysed to establish if it contains evidence.

Principal Magistrate Boaz Ombewa on Wednesday said the 28-hour video in Arabic is necessary as the prosecution has based it’s case on it.
The video will be watched on April 13 when the one-year case will come up for mention.

Mr Abdikadir Aden Hirbo alias Tullu, Mr Bakako Boku Galgallo and Mr Zarqu Galabo Qale are accused of being in possession of the tape suspected to contain terrorism material.

They were arrested on January 21, last year, in Marsabit, on suspicion they were involved in activities bordering on terrorism.

Police pounced on the three men, who had travelled from Nairobi and discovered the tape. They were found with a 2GB memory card with a video, 12-4-06-Arrashed-Khaibar Ya Yahud.

The three are out on bond of Sh500,000 with two sureties of similar amount each. “Hearing will start after the tape has been reviewed as it forms the backbone of the case,” said the magistrate.

He directed the prosecution to scout for an Arabic interpreter and equipment necessary for the review of the tape.
