Police on Wednesday evening shot and killed three suspected gangsters and recovered an AK-47 rifle in the Mbaruk area on Nairobi-Nakuru highway, area OCPD Bernad Kioko confirms.

Police said the gang had been trailing a lorry ferrying electronic goods when they were intercepted at Mbaruk trading centre following a tip-off.

The gang is said to have been operating between Nakuru and Nyahururu for sometime before they were nabbed at about 9.00pm on Wednesday.

Mr Kioko said that police, acting on a tip-off, laid an ambush and immediately struck at the gangsters, who were donning jungle uniforms.

Police officers in the area last year killed four robbers who had broken into the home of an Asian man.
