A man who impersonated an administration police officer and lived at a training camp for nearly six months has denied charges levelled against him.

He was to be sentenced but he informed the court that he wished to change his plea.

“The accused falsely pretended to be a person employed as an administration police officer No 95051258 as AP CPL George Onyancha,” the court had been told.

He allegedly stayed at the Uhuru Administration police camp, which is situated in Nairobi’s Lang’ata estate from April to September 14.

The said camp normally hosts APs attached to securing of government buildings, under which bodyguards attached to VIPs also serve.

The accused was arrested after police officers realised that his name was not on the duty schedule and the fact that he had never accompanied anyone on assignments.

The magistrate directed that following the turn of events, the accused can secure his freedom pending the trial by paying a cash bail of Sh 100,000.

The case was scheduled to be heard on October 30.
