The Beyond Zero campaign on Friday got another boost when the Aga Khan University Hospital donated a fully kitted mobile clinic, which was received by First Lady Margaret Kenyatta at State House, Nairobi.

This comes a day after Mrs Kenyatta had handed over the 39th similar unit to Garissa County on Thursday.

Presenting the donation, the Aga Khan University Hospital Chief Executive Officer Shawn Bolouki said the institution is proud to be associated with the Beyond Zero initiative in its journey to reduce maternal and child deaths across the country.

The First Lady thanked the University for its donation. She said the Beyond Zero initiative is firmly on course with only eight more mobile clinics remaining to be handed over to eight devolved units.

Others from the Aga Khan University Hospital team included the Director for Public Relations Ms Eunice Mwangi and the Director for Corporate Relations Ms Pauline Ngatia.

Earlier, the First Lady flagged-off the Kenyan edition of the World Lady Bikers Day to be observed Sunday globally.

The day, marked every May 7th, aims to bring together female motorcycle riders and female motorcycle enthusiasts.

While the day’s activities are synchronised globally, each participating country decides what to undertake and the specific objectives to pursue.

The Women Bikers Association (WBA) Kenya seeks to primarily promote safe riding and the wearing of proper gear, especially the helmet which is the most important protective gear.
