Agriculture Principal Secretary Richard Lesiyampe says the Jubilee administration is committed to seeing agriculture absorb more youths into the sector.

Mr Lesiyampe said agriculture has the potential to absorb up to 80 per cent of the unemployed youth into sector that contributes about 30 per cent of country’s GDP.

“The average age of a Kenyan farmer today is 64 years but with our youth with energy that is why we need technology as attraction to them to triple our production. This is critical and important,” he said during the second day of Eldoret ASK Show Thursday.

The Eldoret annual show has attracted 160 exhibitors.

Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Willy Bett will Friday preside over the official opening of the event at ASK showground.
