Nakuru Town West MP Samuel Arama has denied confessing before Cord leader Raila Odinga that he received Sh200,000 to doctor investigation reports of Parliament's Public Accounts Committee (PAC).

Mr Arama on Friday said he never spoke or sat in a meeting with beleaguered PAC chairman Ababu Namwamba, adding that it had been long since he met Mr Odinga.

“This is a River Road-like artwork full of mischief. Namwamba should deal with his woes alone to prove his innocence,” he said.

The ODM lawmaker described the allegations that he received a Sh200,000 bribe as "pieces of lies" aimed at undermining his integrity, arguing that Mr Namwamba was attempting to evade justice.

“It is interesting that he is claiming that an honourable MP can sit down somewhere to receive Sh200,000. The Sh200,000 is my one-day shopping expense. When inside my car and dressed properly, I'm worth Sh8 million,” said Mr Arama.

SH5M BRIBE

He called on ODM to discipline Mr Namwamba for behaving badly, saying he had painted the party in a bad light.

“Mr Namwamba’s acts are unethical and selfish, and he should be liable for the Sh5 million bribe,” said Mr Arama, adding that he is ready to to be investigated.

The first-time MP denied that he met Defence Principal Secretary Mutea Iringo privately in a Nairobi hotel.

"The (former) Prime Minister should come forward and say the truth concerning this matter.”

Mr Arama called Mr Namwamba a super gossip who had perfected his art of stage-managing things since his university days.

“He stage-managed the recording to undermine my integrity,” he claimed.
