Ayiro makes changes at Moi University

Prof Fabian Esamai who in June this year acted as Vice-Chancellor for Moi University for a week has now been transferred to Alupe University College as acting principal.

Prof Esamai acted for only one week before retired Vice-Chancellor Richard Mibey came to reclaim his position throwing the management of the institution into a crisis.

He was among 19 senior officers at the institution who have been moved and promoted to new designations.

Acting Vice Chancellor, Laban Ayiro, urged all staff to support their promoted colleagues in order to hold the institution together.

“The promotions were based on merit,” said Prof Ayiro.

Prof Kimani Chege and Prof Peter Amuka will head Mama Ngina Campus and Bomet College Campus respectively.

Prof Peter Barasa is the acting Deputy Principal (Academics), Alupe Campus while Prof Emmy Kipsoi is acting Deputy Principal (Administration) at the same campus.

Others are Prof John Changach (acting Director, privately sponsored students programme (PSSP) and Prof Peter Gitonga will be his deputy.

Dr Dorothy Rotich will head Eldoret West Campus and his deputy is Dr Charles Ong’ondo while Dr David Kosgey will be in charge of administrations among others.

The institution has been on the spot over misappropriation of close to Sh1 billion.

Other changes include: Prof Philip Nyangweso (acting Principal, Odera Akang’o Campus College), Prof Tom Michael Mboya (acting Director (Programmes), Odera Akang’o Campus College), Dr Peter Rutto( –Registrar, Administration), Dr David Ruto(Registrar, Academics, Research and Extension), Dr Hellen Yego (acting Registrar, Human Resource), Prof Malakwen ( Deputy Director, Nairobi Campus), Prof Daniel Chebutuk (acting Director, Kitale Campus) , Dr Zakary Kosgei (acting Deputy Director, Kitale Campus) and Dr Charles Lagat (acting Director, International Office).
