Barrack Muluka named ANC secretary-general

Communications specialist and political commentator Barrack Muluka has been named the Amani National Congress secretary-general.

He replaces nominated MP Godfrey Osotsi.

Party leader Musalia Mudavadi said Mr Muluka’s appointment is awaiting ratification from the National Delegates Conference.

The appointment was already ratified by the ANC Parliamentary Group that met on Friday.

“His contribution is expected to be a boon not just to ANC, but also to the National Super Alliance (Nasa) and to the country, especially coming at this time when Kenya is going through unprecedented political turmoil,” Mr Mudavadi said in a statement sent to newsrooms.

Mr Mudavadi also said that the appointment had been communicated to the Registrar of Political Parties and the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).

CEO

Mr Muluka has served as a chief executive officer in leading publishing firms and served on local and international bodies, including representing Kenya in the International Publishers Association, the East African Book Development Council and the African Publishers Network.

Mr Muluka is also a regular commentator on television, analysing the political goings-on in the country.

He once served as Nasa leader Raila Odinga's campaigns director of communication.
