Chief Justice Willy Mutunga will on Monday preside over the launch of the Magistrates and Kadhis Courts Registry Manual at the Limuru Law Courts.
Kiambu Governor William Kabogo and other local leaders are expected to attend the event.
The Magistrates and Kadhis Courts Registry Manual will guide court registry staff in performing their official duties.
“It simplifies court procedures to facilitate effective and efficient services to all court users. This is in line with the Constitution of Kenya that requires the Judiciary to take effective steps to reduce the obstacles that hinder public access to justice,” read a statement from the judiciary.
The launch of the manual is part of Judiciary's efforts to enhance its efficiency in delivering services and justice.
Last week, the Judiciary announced that a pilot phase of the process of digitising court proceedings will be rolled out in the Commercial and Admiralty Division at the Milimani Law Courts in Nairobi on February 17.
“The intention is that judges will no longer write proceedings longhand and proceedings will be available 24 hours after the court rises,” read a statement from Ms Elizabeth Tanui, deputy registrar at the Milimani Law Courts.
Lawyers practicing at the Commercial and Admiralty Division were urged to familiarise themselves with the Judiciary Audiovisual and Transcription (JAVIT) System during a stakeholders’ sensitisation session, which will take place on February 15 at the Milimani Law Courts.
It is also expected that the developments will be rolled out in the other divisions of the court and to all the courts across the country in the long run.
