Lands Cabinet Secretary Charity Ngilu has finally had her way following the transfer of seven top officials from her ministry.

The transfers, allegedly meant to ease tension in the ministry, followed a meeting with Chief of Staff Joseph Kinyua.

Lands Secretary Zablon Mabea is among those affected.

But this could land Mrs Ngilu in trouble with the National Assembly Committee on Lands, which has warned her against pushing out the officials and replacing them with her own team.

On Monday, the Nation learnt that Mr Mabea, Mr Ephantus Murage, who is the director of survey, and his deputy Boaz Owino have been transferred to the Interior ministry.

In a circular, which was also signed by Mr Kinyua, Chief Lands Registrar Cyrus Ngatia was moved to the Attorney-General’s chambers as was Ms Elizabeth Gicheha, a senior assistant commissioner of lands.

Ms Rosina Mule and Mr Joram Kimemia, both assistant commissioners of lands, were transferred to the Ministry of Devolution and Foreign Affairs, respectively.

Even though the circular required the officials to report to their new offices by yesterday morning, they received their transfer letters in the afternoon — at 3pm.

The seven are part of the 16 Lands staff Mrs Ngilu wanted out.
