China unveils elevated bus

The world’s first Transit Elevated Bus (TEB-1) made its maiden road test on the streets of Qinhuangdao, Hebei province in China.
The Chinese brain-child has a futuristic design that allows it to ferry up to 300 passengers uninterrupted by the conventional traffic flow.
It is 22 metres long, 7.8 metres wide and has a height of 4.8 metres, making it some sort of a structure on the road rather than a bus, allowing conventional vehicles to drive under it.
The bus is solely powered by an electric drivetrain, which would resonate well with environmentalists across the globe and also minimise the hectic traffic jams.
The test was done to check its braking systems, drag and power consumption. Further tests will be carried out and it is expected that future versions will carry up to 1,200 passengers.
