A lawyer at the tribunal investigating a judge has asked to be allowed to cross examine a witness linking him to bribery.

Mr Katwa Kigen on Wednesday said he would want to question Mr Geoffrey Kiplagat whom he described as a “friend” so as to get to know why “he made such wild allegations against me”.

In his affidavit, Mr Kiplagat said Mr Kigen drove Justice Philip Tunoi to a petrol station to pick up the money.

Mr Kiplagat said the Supreme Court judge received a Sh200 million bribe from Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero for a favourable ruling in a petition.

Mr Kiplagat said when the lawyer arrived at the petrol station with the judge, a Mr Kiprop Chirchir who was in another vehicle with Mr Kidero handed Mr Kigen a brown briefcase containing the $2 million bribe.

On Wednesday, Mr Kigen said he was looking forward to meeting Mr Kiplagat and ask him “a couple of questions”.

Mr Kiplagat also said he held meetings and exchanged calls with Mr Kigen where the bribe issue was discussed, but the lawyer has denied the claims.
