The main opposition alliance on Thursday criticised the government’s anti-terrorism operation describing it as “brutal and inhumane.”

The Coalition for Reforms and Democracy (Cord) said the crackdown on illegal immigrants and suspected terrorists was missing the point because the security situation had only “oscillated from bad to worse.”

“Whereas Cord abhors terrorism in all its manifestations, we take exception to the brutal and inhumane manner in which the government is undertaking the security operation,” the alliance said in a joint statement read by Budalang’i MP Ababu Namwamba at a press conference attended by principals Kalonzo Musyoka and Moses Wetangula.
